Bryan Fumo is a full time glass artist located in Columbus Ohio. With a diverse background in traditional Italian glass methods as well as metal work, he creates work that reflects the mesmerizing diversity of microscopic organisms called diatoms. His methodology includes collecting water samples and finding these diatoms under his Microphot SA microscope which then translates into these unique pieces. The process takes 3-4 days to complete due to the amount of detail involved in the creation of each sculpture. The mesmerizing colors are achieved in a process he developed which includes mixing colors, changing the conditions of the firing, and the addition of silver at different times in the process.
